I’m available for Author Visits!

Are you interested in having an author come speak at your school, library, organization, group, etc.?

Then I am available! I can do both in person and virtual visits.

Topics

What is a Picture Book and How to Make One

Audience: Perfect for middle and high school students, or general interest adults.

Program: Overview of what a picture is, with examples, idea generation, and overview of format. Attendees will then be able to put together their own picture book ‘dummy’.

Time: 1 to 2 hours depending on age.

Ask an Author!

Audience: Any age!

Program: Participants will be able to ask me any questions they have about being an author, writing as a career, how I became an author, etc.

Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on interest.

Generating Story Ideas

Audience: Any age!

Program: I will give a short talk on how I come up with ideas, and then we will brainstorm ides together. This will be adapted the age of the group.

Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on age.

Using Onomatopoeia

Audience: 10 years old and up.

Program: I’ll give a short talk about onomatopoeia as a device in writing– esepcially for creating engaging read alouds. Then we’ll come up with our own onomatopoeia words. Will inculde examples from my book, as well as others.

Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on age.

**Reading of A Walk Through the Rewoods with Craft Activity**

Audience: Children under 10.

Program: I’ll read my book, then we’ll do a craft activity together. Making a banana slug.

Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour.

**Reading of A Walk Through the Rewoods with STEM Focus**

Audience: Any age!

Program: I’ll read my book, with a discussion of plants and animals. Then we’ll do an activity about the lifecycle of the redwood trees as well as identification of plants/animals within the redwood ecosystem. Can be adjusted for age group.
